Writing Prompts to Honor Yourself in 2020

I am not that big on new year resolutions since I believe setting intentions is an intuitive process based on context, wants and needs, as they flow into being throughout life. How could one predict what intention would be best and worthy of lasting for an entire calendar year?!?!

I do love end of year reflection and this year I wrote questions with an intention to honor oneself throughout the karmic lessons, wounds, gifts, new tools, accepting oneself, the challengers in our lives and the helpers experienced this year.

I hope you enjoy answering these questions as much as I have. Answer the questions privately or join together with a trusted friend and share your insights together.

Learning and Healing

Learning and Healing.jpg

As a wellness practitioner, I am equally passionate about learning and healing. ⁣

The Akashic Records invite us to learn to see ourselves from the vantage point of unconditional love. The messages that come through during a reading encourage us to see our human lives guided by our soul’s path. Learning to integrate these perspectives into our daily lives is incredibly healing. ⁣

Intuitive Healing invites us to be fluent in the language of our energy bodies. Through inner energetic inquiry and curiosity we discover how our energy bodies have been re-shaped by our experiences and how we can choose (!) to change/grow/evolve ourselves, as we are called to (need for transformation/expansion into conscious wholeness via integration). ⁣

Akashic Intuitive Guidance prepares your consciousness, heart and energy system for the Akashic insights that come through. This unique blend of healing modalities invites us to learn how to integrate (take in and assimilate) unconditional love, the presence of our soul (in our body), the language of our energy bodies and how to work with what we have actively going (human experience / karmic lessons / archetypal wounding / et cetera). ⁣

What are you currently learning that is simultaneously healing for you?⁣

How do you learn to heal yourself?⁣

What environments (relationships) show you where you can learn / heal more? ⁣

Why do you want to learn / heal more?⁣

How does learning feel in your body?⁣

How does healing feel in your body?⁣

You are an exquisite creature full of mystery and power. Thank you for being exactly who you are and for walking the path necessary to be truly y o u. ⁣

In service to wellness and education,⁣
Leigh⁣

Psychic Kin

Psychic kin come and go, and though cherished, are not fixed and predictable. ⁣

If you have attempted to fit whatever mold and failed to do so, you are probably lucky. You may be an exile of some sort, but you have sheltered your soul. There is an odd phenomenon that happens when one keeps trying to fit and fails. Even though the outcast is driven away, she is at the same time driven right into the arms of her psychic and true kin, whether these be a course of study, an art form, or a group of people. It is worse to stay where one does not belong at all than to wander about lost for a while and looking for the psychic and soulful kinship one requires. It is never a mistake to search for what one requires. Never.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There is something useful in all this torque and tension. Something in the duckling is being tempered, being made strong by this exile. While this situation is not one we would wish on anyone for any reason, its effect is similar to pure natural carbon under pressure producing diamonds...
- Clarissa Pinkola Estes⁣⁣

I like this. Some days this feels true. Other days it seems dramatic and based in magical thinking. ⁣

For me, it is clear that there is no magical psychic kin... (wouldn’t that be suggesting some sort of utopian community?). No community / friend / family member or partner can be “on demand”. This is part of the work of the individual - to look to one’s own ability to cultivate inner loving parents and connect with Divine energy as needed. Psychic kin come and go, and though cherished, are not fixed and predictable. ⁣

The only utopian community I see is the one we have been given - our own bodies, our own energetic and biological systems. And the aim is not perfection!! The utopia is in the opportunities that lie in each imbalance, block and flaw (and the gifts that mirror these) - all of us have a unique system in this way. ⁣

Part of healing from self-abandonment can be deepening our connection to ourselves (the gestalt of our being) by way of language fluency of our energy body, remembering our neuro-biological nature and by inquiring into our soul responsibilities. ⁣

To live in surrender is to be open to what is present on this day and in this moment and to dance / relate with curiosity, with that. ⁣

The Biology of Creative Intuitive Flow

Biology of Creative Intuitive Flow
Biology of Creative Intuitive Flow

We are all creative; we are all intuitive. Creative intuitive flow is an incredible part of the life force that flows through us on a daily basis. The potential for using our creative, intuitive flow is unlimited.

Creative, intuitive flow requires time to emerge and space to be in it. To be in it means to let it grow through all senses into a full bloom. In order for it to grow, it’s needs are specific. Like a plant, there are essentials like sunlight and water. My creative, intuitive flow requires quiet, space, slowness, uninterrupted focus and steady inner non-language based attention flow that is naturally receptive in it’s presence.

There are certain environments that thwart this flow. With self-awareness, we can sense which environments (relationships) allow for this flow to grow and flourish. We sense (with clarity) which environments (relationships) stop (or allow for stop and start only of) creative, intuitive flow.

Accepting the spectrum of environments for what they are and centering in onself is no small endeavor. It is a practice that continues to unfold in it’s living, growing essence and over time it reveals new parts of ourselves previously veiled (if we are patient and trusting). This practice can be very lonely and it is a reminder that nobody is responsible for us other than ourselves. Being an adult means attuning to our (inner child’s) creative, intuitive needs on a daily, moment to moment basis. Sometimes we are blessed enough to share with loved ones, those who are truly emotionally (spiritually) available, yet a lot of the time this path is a solo journey that invites us to sense into our needs and the current environment we find ourselves in. It is in our best interest to not bypass (forget/ignore) the relationship we have with ourselves and the Divine as always present no matter what environment or relationship to other we may currently be in.

When we tune into the biological design of our creative, intuitive flow we have more clarity about what we need for optimal bloom. It also invites us to practice more tolerance when occasionally in less than ideal environments (relationships). The more we remember our relationship with ourselves and the Divine, the more we are able to take responsibility for ourselves and our creative, intuitive flow.

Creative, intuitive flow is a power. It may be a subtle power but it is a power. May we all continue to explore our needs around this incredible energy and keep it flowing in our systems.

What is the biology of your unique creative, intuitive flow?

What do you need for your creative, intuitive flow to flourish?

How does your creative, intuitive flow tolerate environments that do not support it’s optimal expansion?

How do you highlight your relationship with yourself and the Divine when in non-optimal environments or relationships?

How do you put yourself first by connecting with yourself and your needs, even if your needs cannot be met immediately?

Now: A Great Time To Connect With Yourself

Connection with Self

Connecting with oneself requires slowing down. Slowing down is naturally grounding. Grounding connects us to the present moment. Within the present moment we have the opportunity to see what is alive within us.

Here is where it can get tricky or challenging. If what is present in your being is challenging to meet with (acknowledge, feel, attune to, embrace, dance with), staying busy can sometimes seem a more comfortable option.

Sometimes a regular ongoing connection with oneself seems like a blocked option. Maybe the powerful and important characters grief, sadness, anxiety, jealousy, rage or _______ are present.

What a beautiful occasion when we can suspend judgment (or accept that we sometimes judge) and make a seat at the table for these soul serving, human qualities and for whomever / whatever is present.

What happens when you practice staying connected to yourself and practice accepting yourself, exactly as you are?

It takes courage to do this. And this courage is not a one time, heart expanding action. This is a repetitive, self-generating practice that can be applied on a daily basis and as needed in our lives. Courage itself seems to be a heart holographic experience given the Latin root of the word. We are such complex, incredible beings and we are designed to heal.

When you come upon a day in your life when it is difficult to be you, when it is difficult to feel, when it is difficult to be honest about who you are in this moment, what do you do?

Years ago when I studied, practiced and taught yoga, I learned the only way out of a day like that is through. Through what is present within me and also allowing what is present within me to move through me.

There is incredible transformation (psst: healing) that naturally occurs when we allow ourselves to be who we are. We all need practice and this is not a one time occasion.

A few simple questions to ask oneself:

What is present for me right now?

What am I feeling?

How does this energy want to move through me?

How can I best care for myself right now?

This 13 minute recording will help you connect with yourself, ground and honor the wisdom and truth within your own physical, energy, emotional and spiritual system.

How to Grieve

“Death is a rite of passage that involves a new journey beyond this life. For the person who is leaving, it can be a time of celebration, for in a sense they are graduating. For those of us left behind, it is a time for grieving, and feelings of sadness and loss are natural. Humans grieve, animals grieve, and even plants grieve.⁣

…A good way to support those in sadness and loss is to let them express their feelings without trying to heal them or make them better. A good way for them to heal is to express the energy of the loss until it doesn’t exist anymore. Trying to repress it for public appearances just delays healing.“ - Sandra Ingerman & Hank Wesselman ⁣

Grief is a power of the human and spiritual heart. I hold a deep honor for the process of grief and to anyone going through it. Grieving is an especially important time to not abandon ourselves, especially if those around us are trying to rush us through or suppress, deny or dismiss the natural process. When we suppress our feelings, we suppress our immune systems.

I honor grief as a powerful way our organisms respond to great change. Trust in the intelligence of your body and allow this process to have the honor and patience it truly needs to flow forward, and in that, heal and deepen your sense of yourself and how deeply you have been touched by love.

Free! Laughing is Healing

Design by OMAYARI

Design by OMAYARI

A close friend of mine once said years ago that laughing is my superpower. Now I say let it be everyone’s superpower. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Laughing is essential throughout deep healing. It is a balm of energy dispersion and release. It is joy manifested from the heart to the rest of the body. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As we live our human lives, entropy walks us closer to death every day. Yet we heal at the same time. We are either seeking and reaching for healing (relief from our suffering) or we are resisting that process (which tends to result in eventual collapse or dis-ease, that process itself also being/requiring healing). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
How can we find healing in our bodies in the small moments? ⁣ ⁣

How can we remember to laugh as we sit with our pain, our suffering and our malaise?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Laughter is the balm of goddesses. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I opened my records and asked my MTLO‘s to describe laughter. Below is what they shared. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Laughter is the sprite of soul. There is a soul archetype present wherever laughter flows. This energy opens the channel within humans for momentary wider breadth for Grace to flow through. The sprite is energy of light footed jolly, made from unconditional love. Laughter is a jolly displacement of stuck resistance. It is a reminder of soothing waters touched by the vibrations of singing fairies. All this, felt as tickling - a sensation of absurdity to the most particular taste. The joy of laughter is expansion and it originates in the heart’s portion of the soul. The part of the heart’s soul that travels far away and also deep into the heart of a person and mother earth. Laughter is holographic and no one laughs alone. Laughter is connected through time and space. It’s a form of mirroring power by way of expansion, release and chortles. We laugh with you and when we laugh together an enormous flood of unconditional love flows forward to saturate.⁣⁣

Affirmations for Empaths and Highly Sensitive People

New affirmations!! These were born from the recent talk on self-abandonment, soul responsibility and how they relate to empaths and highly sensitive people. ⁣

The deeper power of affirmations is when they are created in healing, syncopated resonance to your wounds. It allows your system to hear that a new way of being is possible. ⁣
⁣⁣
I AM, WITH MYSELF.⁣

I AM ALIVE AND I AM WILLING TO FEEL LIFE. ⁣

MY INTUITION GUIDES MY ACTIONS.⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Saying affirmations out loud or to yourself in a mirror are potent ways to deliver and digest. Using your voice is powerful as is seeing yourself speak that which you want to create/embody. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨How to sense if an affirmation is right for you:⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
>>> Read the affirmation a few times quietly and out loud ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
>>> Notice how your body feels when you read the affirmation ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
>>> If your body relaxes, becomes more grounded or open these are great signs to try out the affirmation⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
>>> Trust what you sense ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
>>> If you find (or write) one that resonates, I recommend reading it out loud 2x a day for a few weeks ⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Stay connected to yourself and notice your experience for that time. ⁣✨⁣⁣⁣

These affirmations are intended to support empowerment and freedom for all who see them. Use these or write your own. ⁣

Affirmations for Personal Power

New affirmations!! Born from the topics discussed in the most recent free talk about self-abandonment and soul responsibility. The focus was on the symptom of disconnection from personal power. ⁣⁣

None of the affirmations that came through mention power directly. The way to connecting with our power is by creating a presence and connection with ourselves first. I believe these affirmations support that. ⁣
⁣⁣
The deeper beauty of affirmations is when they are tailored to speak directly to your wounds, in support of your unconscious understanding a new way of being. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You are welcome to use these if they resonate or write your own. ✨⁣⁣⁣

Self-Abandonment & Soul Responsibility

UPDATE: All four of these free talks are up on my IGTV on my instagram account - @heartpeacehealing. Below you can see the area of focus (which is also expanded on in each post’s copy).

1. Disconnection from Self
2. Boundaries
3. Personal Power
4. How Self-Abandonment and Soul Responsibility show up for empaths and highly sensitive people

Stay tuned for more free talks!

///

As promised! Self-abandonment is often the root of disempowerment. This behaviour manifests in a variety of ways that can be subtle yet over time have large effects. ⁣

Chronic disconnection from yourself means disconnecting from a lot of other things like presence, feelings, self (soul) responsibility, personal power and offering your gifts to the world.⁣

The best way to start healing from this pattern is to talk about it & bring it into the light. ⁣

My experiential studies in the Akashic Records have also taught me some incredible wisdom on soul responsibility and I see how this connects to self-abandonment.⁣

I have received information from the Akashic Records about self-abandonment being an ultimate path to self love. Of course they see it that way. Yet it can be so incredibly painful and confusing when we are only experiencing it on a human level.⁣

Do you sometimes feel you “absorb” other people’s energy?⁣

Do you have difficulty not being affected by negative energy around you?⁣

Is it challenging for you to make time commitments to care for yourself and your needs?⁣

Do you sometimes feel unsafe in your body?⁣

Do you experience frustration with behaviors and systems that seem to require a certain level of self-abandonment for you to participate?⁣

If you said yes to any of the questions above, I think you will appreciate these conversations! I invite you to join, participate and/or listen to the recording after.⁣

The seat of your heart holds the sound of your soul - when you ground yourself & open to flow - the beat strengthens. The song of a Sweet Self can resonate & syncopate to your human choices. ⁣

I connect with my highly empathic sensitivity & I know this is power.⁣

I am intimately acquainted with my own intuition - I know I can trust myself. ⁣

Close your eyes & envision your bare feet holding the earth. The sensation of dirt & grass touch your skin & that earth energy flow up into your system, all the way to your spiritual heart. ⁣

Your heart song welcomes earth energy. Let this song & beat anchor your energy body as you walk through your life. This grounded heart energy supports you in your empathic, highly sensitive powers. Sit in your heart space with your bare feet in the soil.

Using the Elements to Deepen Your Bond with Yourself

USING THE ELEMENTS TO DEEPEN YOUR BOND WITH YOURSELF:⁣

⁣Stay connected to your inner world, your internal self, your core, your essence. ⁣

⁣Deepen this bond you have with yourself. Use your awareness and your breath to tune in. This is your space of intuition; this is your space of truth and belonging.⁣

⁣With eyes closed or open:⁣

⁣Bring your awareness inside your body and/or to the core line up of energy centers (chakras).⁣

⁣If your energy were earth, what would the earth be like?⁣

⁣If your energy were water, what would the water be like?⁣

⁣If your energy were fire, what would the fire be like?⁣

⁣If your energy were air, what would that air be like?⁣

⁣If your energy were space, what would that space be like? ⁣

⁣You can tune in to all elements or choose one or a few. Practice shape-shifting the element/s you choose with your breath and attention. Explore your own ability to self-reference and heal.⁣

If this is challenging for any reason, honor where you are and know that you are exactly where you need to be. Be a loving witness to yourself exactly as you are. Breathe, allow and settle into the present moment.

Wants and Needs: Inner Child & Adult Self

"If something in the deli aisle makes you cry
Of course I'll put my arm around you
And I'll walk you outside
Through the sliding doors
Why would I mind?

You're not a baby if you feel the world
All of the babies they can feel the world
That's why they cry

And when you're holding me
We make a pair of parentheses
There's plenty space to encase
Whatever weird way my mind goes
I know I'll be safe in these arms”

-The Blow, “Parentheses” from “Paper Television”

I love listening to love songs with a focus on relationship with self. This song is an ultimate love ballad for the inner child adult self relationship.

Ignoring our own wants and needs is a form of self-abandonment.

Ignoring our own wants and needs (by not regularly checking in with ourselves to discover what they are) means ignoring wants and needs of our inner child (I keep it singular for simplicity yet it is possible to have more than one inner child).

When we don’t check in with our own wants and needs it’s possible we may begin to subtly expect others or outside sources to meet these wants and needs.

[FADE TO: scene of “Tricky territory of disempowerment”]

So, yeah, if you start to cry in the deli aisle, please walk yourself outside with the most gentle force of love from your spiritual heart. When your inner child is upset and asking for emotional attunement, take a pause and tune in to them. When you and/or your inner child feel the world - honor your incredible gift of sensitivity.

What happens then? How do things shift??

This practice is inner compassionate inquiry - from adult self to inner child or from adult self to inner world. Taking a few breaths and dropping your breath and attention down to your heart, down to your your lower body and to the core of mother earth will help balance this exploratory, rewarding practice.

HAVE AN INTUITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR DIVINE INNER CHILD

Divine Eternal Child Collages by Leigh Aschoff & her Inner Child

Divine Eternal Child Collages by Leigh Aschoff & her Inner Child

HAVE AN INTUITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR DIVINE INNER CHILD

How are you a conscious, attuned guide for your inner functional family?

Are your inner child’s wants and needs the same as yours?

Are you aware of when your inner child takes over?

One way to start a relationship with your inner child is to first establish a loving, conscious inner guide. This inner guide’s sole duty is to love, care for and protect your inner child. Attunement occurs naturally with compassionate listening (ask your inner child questions and listen to what they have to say).

A beginning of genuine and supportive community with others begins with how we treat ourselves and our inner child. Collective community is directly affected and connected to our inner, personal community. How we treat ourselves is how we treat others.

The beauty of this relationship with self is love, play, creativity, fun and magical imagination; the painful parts can be seeing how we resist, fear, judge and hide from ourselves (or other forms of self hate). The more we are aligned with and open to the whole of who we are, from within, the more we can emerge into the light and be of service for others and the collective.

You can schedule Compassionate Inquiry Sessions and/or Akashic Records Session with me directly through my website.

Both of these healing approaches invite you to an active returning to self connection and wholeness.

I often work with people growing through loss, grief, depression and trauma recovery.
