How to Grieve

“Death is a rite of passage that involves a new journey beyond this life. For the person who is leaving, it can be a time of celebration, for in a sense they are graduating. For those of us left behind, it is a time for grieving, and feelings of sadness and loss are natural. Humans grieve, animals grieve, and even plants grieve.⁣

…A good way to support those in sadness and loss is to let them express their feelings without trying to heal them or make them better. A good way for them to heal is to express the energy of the loss until it doesn’t exist anymore. Trying to repress it for public appearances just delays healing.“ - Sandra Ingerman & Hank Wesselman ⁣

Grief is a power of the human and spiritual heart. I hold a deep honor for the process of grief and to anyone going through it. Grieving is an especially important time to not abandon ourselves, especially if those around us are trying to rush us through or suppress, deny or dismiss the natural process. When we suppress our feelings, we suppress our immune systems.

I honor grief as a powerful way our organisms respond to great change. Trust in the intelligence of your body and allow this process to have the honor and patience it truly needs to flow forward, and in that, heal and deepen your sense of yourself and how deeply you have been touched by love.
